The works combine collage with digital media to portray the emotional journey of groups affected by conscription. It seeks to capture the links between the unexpected results, errors, manipulation, corruption or otherwise, and the mass glitch in the conscription ballot alongside the embedded use of the internet in our lives today. At the same time, it casts a light on the price paid by those who opposed conscription.

About Etanah

Etanah is completing a Bachelor of Design in spatial design at Massey University. Raised in a close-knit Samoan community in the Hutt Valley, Etanah acknowledges the importance of this strong foundation for inspiration and clarity.

Her creativity stems from travelling the world from the age of 18 while keeping strong ties to her community at home. This has given Etanah the confidence to explore and combine different media of paint, digital media, plastics, printmaking and audio.

Her earlier collaborations with Lonnie Hutchinson and the late Tony Wincup engraved a vision to help people in her Pacific community find their own self-worth so they can move forward as a collective.
